The African Cashew Alliance Secretariat began operations in June 2006, working on the establishment of the organization, international and regional promotion of ACA and African cashews, dissemination of information, training, and fostering a favorable environment for the cashew sector.

ACA's objectives are to:

  • Develop cashew processing industry
  • Improve raw nut quality and value
  • Create international awareness of African cashews
  • Provide information, training and networking opportunities to international and African cashew stakeholders
  • Facilitate investments in projects with partners
  • Coordinate and leverage country specific activities

ACA has planned the following activities for October 2007 - September 2008:

  • Training and technical assistance for cashew processors (regional trainings, individual consultancies and business plan templates and manuals)
  • Marketing and communication
  • International promotion of African cashews at trade shows and international events
  • Country programs and activities with partner organizations
  • Annual Meeting Spring 2008 and EC election
