Cashew Retail Market in West Africa Leading cashew processors and exporters in India and Vietnam are bolstered by a strong local market. But in Africa, local consumption is low, providing little incentive to process the nuts closer to home. A new survey by WATH/Accra and ACA showcases opportunities for growing the regional market in 10 West African countries. Watch this space for individual country reports, coming soon.

Cashew Concern Certification The recently formed “Cashew Concern Certification” can help to put African cashews on a level playing field with other origins by offering an inspection and certification program for cashew processing facilities. The majority of cashew kernels imported into the United States are processed in India, Vietnam or Brazil. Roasters and retailers are familiar with these regions and have no hesitation in accepting product from these countries. Africa, however, has long been regarded as solely a supplier of raw cashews, and has had problems winning the trust of American roasters and retailers looking for shelled product. Read More....
